Victor Osimhen becomes Africa’s most expensive player

The Nigeria international forward who scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for the Ligue 1 side Lille, has moved to Naples in a record breaking deal – he is the most expensive Nigerian player in history.

Osimhen had been linked with several top European clubs following his impressive goalscoring season, including Arsenal and Liverpool, although he will appear in Serie A in the 2020-21 campaign.

Di Marzio and other Italian outlets claim the transfer fee is €50 million plus €7-8m in bonuses. L’Équipe, on the other hand, claim the total transfer fee will be €81.3 million.
This is because Napoli will pay €70m + €10m in bonuses, but Lille will pay 5% of the fee to his old clubs for solidarity payments. However, Lille will pay €20m for four Napoli players: third choice GK Orestis Karnezis plus three Primavera players.
It is beautiful to see, this meteoric rise from a player who was rejected by Zulte Waregem on loan two years ago!
